OT staff use RITA to digitally enhance quality of life and wellbeing of patients with functional mental illness
RITA was introduced to support Occupational Therapy (OT) staff and their patients on ward 39. Ward 39 is an acute admissions ward for people who are 65 years and older who present with acute functional mental illness such as psychosis, depression, anxiety, memory impairment and to a lesser degree dementia.
Withybush General Hospital Enhances their Frailty Service with RITA
We recently introduced the RITA system onto our Ward and this has contributed significantly to the quality of care we are able to give our patients and helps us meet their needs which is not always easy. Alongside hospital-wide frailty initiatives, Senior Sister Lisa Marshall and the staff on ward 12 are delivering their own Frailty Improvement project.
Addenbrooke’s Hospital – Falls Prevention Project
In August 2020 Ward G6 at Addenbrooke's Hospital initiated a falls prevention project in which RITA was applied as a tool to support the initiative. On average ward G6 had been experiencing 5 falls a month in the months leading up to August which was the month in which RITA was deployed on the ward. The result of applying RITA in this setting saw a 60% reduction in falls in the month of August.
Llys Cadfan Care Home digitally enhances quality of life & wellbeing
Llys Cadfan is a care home owned by Gwynedd Council in North Wales. It caters for older people, in particular people living with dementia. They accommodate 28 residents who may require long stay, short stay, respite or day care.
Improving care at Royal Stoke & County hospitals
Staff working at University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) are now able to better interact with elderly patients thanks to a new digital bedside therapy system that has been introduced to wards at the Royal Stoke University and County hospitals, generously funded by the UHNM Charity.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Llandudno Hospital
Llandudno General Hospital includes services for older people with illnesses such as dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, severe depression, severe anxiety and schizophrenia. There was a need for more opportunities to engage with meaningful activities and entertainment.

At Southmead we have a Meaningful Activities Project. There were challenges around this initiative which meant ensuring the staff understood meaningful activities, meaningful interactions, and person-centred care. There were challenges around space, storage and infection control.
