Yesterday the Mayor of Brent Cllr Ryan Hack kindly launched the introduction of RITA at Northwick Park Hospital, widely used by Harrow residents, has recently received a RITA device kindly supplied due to a generous donation from a former Mayor of Harrow,
Thanks to a generous donation from former mayor of Harrow, Councillor Ramji Chauhan, and his wife, Mrs. Meena Chauhan, Northwick Park Hospital is now using a groundbreaking system to improve patient care. The funds, raised for RITA, his chosen mayoral charity for 2023-2024, have been used in Evelyn Ward to implement Reminiscence Interactive Therapeutic Activities (RITA).
RITA is an innovative digital therapy that helps patients engage in activities from Music, games, films and soothing sounds and imagery.
This technology aims to make hospital stays more enjoyable, reduce anxiety and decrease negative behaviours often associated with dementia and longer term admissions.
By Sparking memories and conversation, the system helps staff build a better understanding of each patient's individual needs, but also provide comfort and a sense of homeliness when away from home.
The RITA system, along with activities like bingo and karaoke nights, helps reduce feelings of isolation and boredom, encouraging patients to socialize and share life stories.
This initiative is testament to the hospitals continued commitment to providing not just medical care, but truly personal and holistic support.
