This article, written by Saugata, the newest Therapeutic Worker at Hawkhurst Community Hospital in Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust was uploaded to the staff Intranet, accessible to 6000+ staff. Saugata has embraced the RITA Software by recently initiating daily morning Group Exercise Sessions utilising the RITA screen at Hawkhurst Community Hospital.

These sessions are designed to support patients in their rehabilitation journey and the response has been encouraging, with many patients eager to join us in the day room. This marks a significant shift, as it was previously challenging to convince patients to leave their rooms.

Strengthening Minds and Bodies

Bridging technology and empathy in healthcare

At Hawkhurst Community Hospital, exercise sessions have become a real highlight for many patients, all thanks to the amazing support from the team and the RITA application.

RITA makes working out enjoyable and engaging, allowing patients to pick from a variety of activities that suit their individual needs. The therapeutic worker and the team member are there with the patients, cheering them on and ensuring they’re safe while making the most of their workouts.

The energy during these sessions is contagious. Patients laugh, share stories, and celebrate each other’s progress. One patient even shared how much they look forward to these workouts, saying it’s not just about getting fit; it’s about connecting with others and enjoying the journey together.

With World Alzheimer's Day in mind, it's essential to recognize how physical activity can greatly benefit cognitive health. Regular exercise has been shown to boost memory and cognitive function, helping those affected by Alzheimer’s lead more fulfilling lives.

By combining technology with compassionate care, Hawkhurst Community Hospital is not only helping patients recover physically but also enhancing their overall well-being, showing that exercise can truly be both beneficial and enjoyable.
